Philly Cheesesteak Sliders | Easy Weeknight Dinner

Writer's picture: freerangefarmhousefreerangefarmhouse

We are a football family. We countdown the days until college football, and it's easy for us to cheer for the good guys in the NFL (looking at you Jalen Hurts and Brock Purdy). When planning our menu for the Super Bowl, I saw someone share that they made a Philly Cheesesteak Slider, and I knew that I wanted to make my own.

When you think about football food, there's always plenty of chips and dips, sweets and treats, all while being easy to eat. I love it! Give me all of the side dishes, please! When thinking about these sliders, I wanted them to still have that ooey gooey cheesey goodness that a Philly Cheesesteak has, it couldn't let it lack flavor, but also couldn't be too messy since we wanted it to be a "finger food."

Buns cut in half with philly cheesesteak meat on bottom of bun.

Let me just tell you. I think we nailed it. I know I say that a lot, but bare with me--sliced provolone cheese, ground venison (of course you can always use ground beef or turkey), peppers and onions, all on a Hawaiian roll. I mean is your mouth watering yet?! When I have the time, I'd love to make my own sourdough Hawaiian rolls, but life happens, and the regular ones were delicious for this.

These were not only great for the big game, but my husband said that these needed to be added to our weekly meal rotation. I think they'll be perfect for hosting friends, or if your schedule is like ours, an on the go dinner at the baseball fields. Regardless of when you have them, you're sure to love these Philly Cheesesteak Sliders.

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

  • 2 packs of Hawaiian Rolls

  • 8 slices of Provolone cheese

  • 3 Tablespoons butter (1 for cooking vegetables and 2 melted for top of the rolls during baking)

  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder (for top of the rolls for baking)

Instructions:

  2. Chop your onion and bell pepper, then in a Stainless Steel Pan, add 1 T of butter and sauté with garlic until onion becomes translucent.

  3. Add your meat, salt, pepper, and aminos, and cook until browned.

  4. Cut your Hawaiian Rolls in half and place Provolone cheese on the bottom.

  5. Add your meat and veggie mixture, the cover with the top of the roll.

  6. Melt the remainder of your butter and add 1 teaspoon of garlic powder and stir.

  7. Brush melted butter mixture onto the top of your rolls, then bake on 350 for 10 minutes.
